Echoes of Elsewhere: Art, Migration, Identity
March 22, 4:00 pm
Stream of webinar will be available on Facebook.
Who is the artist in a world that is constantly breaking apart and reshaping itself? How does she navigate displacement, change, and the search for a new place to belong?
Dinka Lenova was born in a country that may have fallen apart, but its history still resonates in people and places. Her work is an attempt to capture fleeting memories and the continuous redefinition of identity. As part of the closing event for her exhibition "Between Layers" at HOS Gallery, we invite you to a conversation space where artists and curators will discuss migration, nomadism, and art as a form of grounding. It will also be an opportunity for participation, exchange, and the creation of a shared community.
Migration is a multilayered experience—it shapes memory, the body, and language. What happens to identity when one’s sense of home becomes fluid? Is it possible to still belong to a place that has been left behind? How does displacement transform artistic language?
Curators and artists associated with HOS Gallery and Secondary Archive will share their thoughts and experiences, mapping out the realities of the contemporary nomadic artist.
